Roadtrip 2022 Fall: Richland - Boise - Ely - Kanab - Sedona - Joshua Tree - Paso Robles - Calistoga - Brookings - Cannon Beach

Day 6 - Ely to Kanab

Ella's choice on election day. She loves to Gurrrrrr.

Loneliest 8 ball in Nevada.

This funky little spot can't quite decide what it wants to be. Great colour though!

Departure from Ely - the snow covered lands are amazing.

Cow country.

US 93 pretty much looks just like this for hours.

Once again the US military is flying their new tech right over us - this was a test flight of their new "Triple Threat" airplane. Follow the contrail: it entered the airspace at the upper left, flew a horizontal circle, then executed its signature maneuver: splitting into three airplanes!

Wendy found this place on the map: Cathedral Gorge State Park - it is truly in the middle of nowhere.

The Team inspects Cathedral Gorge's upper viewpoint.

This is one way down into the gorge. The other way is just a drive in from the bottom.

We really don't have time for a decent exploration - and this area is so remote that really the only way is to camp here. The campground is amazing.

There are slot canyons everywhere, with vertical "cathedra" walls.

Before this year, we have never seen wild horses. Here is our second sighting!

Perched on his traditional command post, the notorious Feral Motorhome awaits its prey.

Our shortcut into Kanab involves a run over a 9900ft pass on UT 14 out of Cedar City. We hit the snowline almost right away.

Up on the heights, a view of Zion National Park way in the distance.

9960 ft.
